Titanium biocompatibility (known already for decades in the orthopaedic and maxillofacial fields) allows for a stable connection between the bone and the implant; this process is called osseointegration. The implant is placed in the lower or upper jaw performing a simple surgical procedure under local anaesthesia; after a necessary healing period, the dental prosthesis is screwed to the implant, guaranteeing stability and above all, no damage to the remaining teeth.
